Church to monitor
bidding at DPWH

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bishop Vicente Navarra said the Church will send a representative to monitor the bidding of projects undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bacolod City on the request of Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella.

Puentevella sent us a letter to ask us to monitor projects and Fr. Anecito Buenafe, director of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Bacolod, will act on the matter, the bishop said.

“It is a step in the right direction,” the bishop said.

Buenafe asked why the invitation for them to monitor such projects was made only now, when they are supposed to invite the Diocese every time there is a bidding.

“But we are happy at least they are now doing their job,” he said.

“I think there is a national directive to all congressmen but I have to confirm that,” Buenafe said.

Meanwhile, Buenafe said he was informed that members of the National Medication and Conciliation Board have received a directive from Malacañang to monitor rallies and pickets in Negros Occidental and to submit reports.*CPG
