Let legal process work,
GMA spokesman says

BY CARLA GOMEZ

“Justice can never be attained through bursts of emotions but through the legal process of our Constitution.”

This was the reaction yesterday of Deputy Presidential Spokesman Anthony Golez to the call of Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra and the priests of the Diocese of Bacolod for President Arroyo to resign after the truth is heard.

“When the bishop called for the resignation of the president, then that is the time when he starts to wear the hat as a citizen of this country because the CBCP (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines) has not supported those calls,” he said.

Golez, a Negrense himself, asked for respect for the institutions tasked with ensuring that the legal process is followed.

Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) said the calls of the bishop and the priests were their prerogative.

“I am happy to note that democracy is alive in this country, particularly the constitutional provision on freedom of speech,” Lacson said.

Rep. Genaro Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) also said it was the right of the people to call for the truth as long as due process is followed.*CPG
