Cebu closes gap
on Marapara bets

Cebu Country Club stole the thunder from host Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club yesterday as the founders' division headed for a wire-to-wire finish in the Philippine Airlines Interclub in Bacolod City.
Playing in his home-course, club champion Jae Yang came up with 32 points or a 4-over-par 74 in medal play as the Negrenses collected 110 points yesterday for a 337 total after three rounds in the second division.
But they saw their 12-point advantage slashed to three with the Cebuanos, buoyed by 31 points from Carl Almario, turning in a tournament-best output of 119 points to raise its record to 334 points. 
| Six Negros-based Six Negros Occidental-based players are leaving for Manila Sunday to join the try-outs for the national football team that will see action in the Asian Challenge Cup in May. National coach Norman Fegidero Jr. said West Negros University standouts Lemuel Unabia, Robert Cañedo Jr., Joven Bedic and Joel Ballo-Allo are participating in the workouts together with University of St. La Salle players Floriano Pasilan Jr. and Arnie Pasinabo Among the six, Pasinabo is the only player with international experience in the senior level, having played as a substitute against Myanmar during the ASEAN Football Championships in Bangkok last year. |
| NOTAFA age-group Local athletes get to show their wares when the Negros Occidental Track and Field Association holds its age-group athletic competition at the University of St. La Salle oval in Bacolod City today. Thirteen events are calendared in the secondary division with participants competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 4x100m, 4x400m, long jump, triple jump and discus throw. Except for the exclusion of the 3000m and 5000m races, the elementary competition will has the same calendar as the high school competition. |
