NOTAFA age-group
meet today at USLS

Local athletes get to show their wares when the Negros Occidental Track and Field Association holds its age-group athletic competition at the University of St. La Salle oval in Bacolod City today.

Thirteen events are calendared in the secondary  division with participants competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 4x100m, 4x400m, long jump, triple jump and discus throw.

Except for the exclusion of the 3000m and 5000m races, the elementary competition will has the same calendar as the high school competition.

Only players not older than 13 years old as Jan. 1, 2008 will be eligible in the elementary division, NOTAFA president Roger Banzuela said. The cut off date of birth in the high school category is Jan. 1, 1990.

The event comes two months after the Palarong Panlalawigan, where the province’s top athletes are seeing action. Among those expected to see action today are Negros Occidental standouts bound to see action in the regional meet in the middle of March in Antique. *CPT
