Police, DENR nab
illegal logger in Sibulan

A suspected illegal logger was collared in a recent raid conducted by the police 705th Provincial Mobile Group and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, at the Twin Balinsasayao Lake, Sitio Lansob, Brgy. Enrique Villanueva, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

The suspect was identified as Isidro Sotillo, of legal age, who operatives said was behind the illegal cutting of the lumber recovered by authorities.

Seized were species of white lauan, almasiga and other indigenous forest trees found at the lake, which the DENR personnel said they will use as evidence against Sotillo.

BODY FOUND IN CEMETERY

The police are investigating the cause of death of a minor whose body was found yesterday at the old Bogo Cemetery in Dumaguete City.

Probers identified the body as that of Reydon Piñero, 16, of Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete.

Two young boys named Junfer and John Ceasar, found the body hanging on top of a tomb, while they were collecting used candles inside the cemetery, at about 6 a.m. yesterday, the police said.

Relatives of the victim told the police they want to know what caused the death of Reydon, who investigators had initially theorized, committed suicide.
