planning gab
IN CANLAON
BY RENE GENOVE

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Oriental conducted a two-day strategic planning workshop for Agrarian Reform Communities’ sugarcane cooperatives in Canlaon City recently.

Participants were cooperatives from Canlaon and the town of Vallehermoso.

The workshop was aimed at assisting participants for possible production and marketing arrangements with the San Carlos Bio-Energy Inc. in Negros Occidental.

The plant management estimates that they would require about 3,000 hectares of sugarcane farms from these areas to meet their needs.

The workshop is in coordination with the ARB Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Development Program, DAR-Beneficiaries Development Coordinating Division, and the DAR Municipal Office in Canlaon.

Also present were Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Grace Fua; CARPO BDCD Benjamin Empig; Dr. Vic Jurlano, Consultant AREDP; Alberto Aduna, Consultant AREDP; Hetbie Macapal, Head Philsurin San Carlos District; Jojo Salvador, Community Relations Officer, San Carlos; Raleigh Tonico, Head Biomass Resources Inc.; Rene Imperial, Consultant for Organic Fertilizer, SCBC; and DARMOs staff from Canlaon and Vallehermoso.*RG
