| Millgate prices of “B” or domestic sugar in Negros and Panay continue to rally for the fourth week, reaching as high as P1,105.01 per 50-kilo Lkg at the Feb. 28 bidding, the price monitor of the Sugar Master Plan Foundation shows.
Prices range between P1,070 and P1,105.01 this week from the past week’s (Feb. 21) P1,055 to P1,100.48 range.
It was only on the first week of February when prices of ‘B’ sugar bounced back after a decline in January. On Jan. 31 prices ranged from P1,008 to P1,045.55 while on Jan. 24, between P1,013 and P1,048.29.
By Feb. 7, prices started to climb, hitting as high as P1,051.89 per Lkg for Passi I and at the Feb. 14 bidding, “B” sugar was sold between P1,035 and P1,067.
This week, Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company disposed its stocks at P1,085.50 (high) and P1,083.10 (low); Central Azucarera de la Carlota, P1,084 (high) and P1,073.09 (low); Hawaiian-Philippine Company, P1,090.79 (high) and P1,088.90 (low);
Victorias Milling Company, P1,090; Lopez Sugar Corp., P1,090; Sagay Central Inc., P1,090; Passi I, P1,105.01; Passi II, P1,100.38; Capiz, P1,090.50; and Bais, P1,088 (high) and P1,077.79(low).
Meanwhile, the Central Azucarera de Don Pedro disposed its “B” stocks at P1,108.88 (high) and P1,088.88 (low) while the Bukidnon Sugar Milling Corp. at P1,070.
For the week, BISCOM sold 16,596.15 Lkgs; CAC, 1,040.14; HPCO, 12,662.27 Lkgs; and VMC, 10,463.25 Lkgs.*NLG
