| Woman entrapped
for child exploitation
A woman is now facing child abuse and exploitation charges after she was arrested in an entrapment operation at a bar in Bacolod City, Saturday, for allegedly acting as a pimp to a 14-year-old girl, the police said yesterday.
Nida Valencia, 37, of Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod, was nabbed by Police Station 2 members at the Warehauz Bar at 21st Street, in the city, at about 3 a.m. Saturday, precinct commander, Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche, said.
Valencia, a native of Toboso town, Negros Occidental, was apprehended when P800 in marked money was recovered from her after she allegedly acted as a pimp between a police asset and the minor, Acebuche, who led the operation, said.
Valencia, a single mother to a 7-year-old incoming Grade 2 student, admitted accepting the money, but added, that she was just “trying to help” the asset who used to frequent the drinking establishment.
She also said that she has been “introducing” customers to commercial sex workers (CSW) at the pub, but claimed that she has never accepted money for it.
The teenager, who has been endorsed to the Bacolod Social Development Center, admitted to police investigators that she has indeed been accepting money for sexual favors from customers at Warehauz.
She said she decided to become as a CSW because of poverty and as a protest against her mother who is now living with another man.
The girl also said that students from tertiary schools in Bacolod are among her customers.
The management of the Warehauz Bar could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act of 1992 and Paragraph 5 of Article 202 of the Revised Penal Code will be filed against Valencia at the City Prosecutor’s Office today, Acebuche said.*PP

A driver who allegedly tried to flee after hitting four vehicles that left two people injured including a cop, was arrested in Bacolod City Saturday, the police and radio reports said yesterday.

Ramos refused to talk to reporters after the incident but repeatedly denied colliding with the four vehicles, Rapiz said.
Eduardo said Ramos, who was detained at Police Station 6, was released at about 11:30 a.m. yesterday after his 12-hour detention period had lapsed.
