| Representatives from Negros Occidental towns and cities participated in the farmers' Focus Group Discussion held recently at the Governor's Hall at Provincial Capitol.
The activity, in support of the Department of Agriculture's Strengthening of Monitoring and Evaluation in Agriculture Project, is a strategy aimed to gather feedback on the current issues and concerns of the corn industry in the province, Negros Occidental being one of the pilot sites of the project, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, facilitator of the FGD, said.
The project, a DA initiative with support from the Institutional Development Fund of the World Bank, attempts to provide a simplified system to enable data processors to provide inputs to decision makers on the results of various development activities in the agricultural sector and to enable decision makers to allocate government resources in the most effective manner.
It also aims to improve institutional capacities on results-oriented monitoring and evaluation of agricultural development activities to enable decision makers to evaluate agricultural development performance in their specific areas and allocate resources where they are needed most or where returns could more significantly contribute to agricultural development.
Johnson Ton Mercades, consultant on Results-Oriented Monitoring and Evaluation System, and Christopher Morales and Lolita Paliquit both of DA were present.*NLG
