Big names in Bacolod

The Bacolod L'Fisher Hotel was sprawling with people awaiting the arrival of former President Joseph Estrada, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, former Senator Ernesto Maceda who were in Negros Occidental, Friday afternoon, with Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon Jr., to distribute goods for victims of typhoon Frank in the northern parts of the province, specifically in the cities of Sagay and Cadiz and Manapla town

Later that evening, Senate President Manuel Villar also arrived in Bacolod City to attend the launching of a residential subdivision being developed by Camella-Bacolod, Negrense's new urban central.

Guests were treated to seemingly never-ending trays filled with finger foods and different kinds of sandwiches, with sparkling red and white wine and champagne.

Villar joined the Sunshine Boys for dinner, then he went to the Ciocon family table where Bacolod Mayor Bing Leonardia and J.B. Mapa, who was celebrating his birthday, were also seated.

A million thanks to former President Erap, Mayor Binay and company, and of course, to Bacolod 's adopted son, Manny Pacquiao, who, with Mayor Bing also gave relief goods to typhoon victims in Bacolod .

The Philippine Mental Health Association Bacolod Chapter celebrated it 32nd anniversary recently, with Fr. Sixto Bitangjal officiating at the Thanksgiving Mass, followed by a hearty breakfast.

The PMHA, which promotes the advancement of mental health through advocacy education prevention, among others, chose its Board of Management and for 2008-2010 officers. They are Gloria Tajanlangit, Councilors Celia Flor and Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, Dr. Antonio Gauzon, S/Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, Eufemia Octaviano, Carmen Puentevella, Dr. Mae Lina De Luzuriaga, Benjamin Ortega, Celia Ferrer, Isabel Urra, Celia Melcher, Robeeh Ramos, and Shirley Ledesma.
