The sale of the 192.5-MW Palinpinon geothermal plant in Valencia , Oriental Negros has been moved to 2009, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. said.

The new sale date was confirmed by the PSALM Board after it withdrew the bidding for the Palinpinon-Panay package in a Supplemental Bid Bulletin.

This clarifies reports that the privatization of the Palinpinon plant was moved to November, the agency said.

SSS payments can be
made through SM

Members of the Social Security System in Bacolod City can now pay their contributions through the SSS paying facility or “ Bayad Center ” at SM City mall, local branch head Elvira Banico said in a government press release.

The SM City paying facility opened last May while the one with Western Union-RCPI opened last year.

Opening these centers will help unload the volume of members paying their contributions and loans and will free members from the hassles of lining up at the SSS office, Banico said.

Micro-financing eyed for
Panay businesses

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry is eyeing a micro-financing program for the restoration of businesses in the typhoon-hit areas in Panay .

Guidon de la Cruz, regional chairman of the PCCI, said the chamber in Panay is working with their colleagues in PCCI-Cebu Chapter that had earlier expressed intent to fund the micro-financing program.

Their group is also coordinating with other PCCI chapters in the country to help businesses in Panay cope with the effects of Typhoon Frank.
