Reshuffling eyed
for police chiefs
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Five chiefs of police in Negros Oriental are expected to be relieved from their posts for allegedly failing to meet the expectations of the new provincial commander.

Police provincial director, Senior Supt. Augusto Marquez said he was irked by the late filing of cases by the police stations which he, however, refused to identify.

Marquez said he is also verifying reports that big-time “swertres” financiers and coordinators are dropping the names of PNP officers in sustaining their operation, and are not molested by operatives.

Let’s meet, Marquez
dares leader of NPA

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Police Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Augusto Marquez Jr., yesterday challenged a leader of the rebel New People’s Army in Negros Oriental, whose life he had saved several years ago in Bohol, to come and see him.

Marquez said he learned from military intelligence reports that Domingo Compoc alias Ka Cobra, is now based in Negros Oriental.

Marquez said that when he was a young lieutenant and assigned to Bohol, he first met Compoc following a clash between government forces and rebel troops there.

Karapatan scores cops
for ‘harassing’ members

Members of human rights group Karapatan-Negros yesterday claimed in a statement that they were harassed when they went to the police station of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, about 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Zara Alvarez and Eppie Assentista of Karapatan said they wanted to see police chief, Supt. Petronilo Gracia.

They said they asked for a blotter report filed by Felipe Gelle of Bayan-Negros and Juravilla Baloy but were refused by PO3 Rodeliano Lagahit Jr., who allegedly said this was upon orders of his superior.
