2 Bacolod darters
win June tourney

Rising from the losers bracket, Bacolod veteran darters Rommel Bagotayao and Richmond Ganon posted a come-from-behind win to top the June edition of the monthly Darts Tournament at the New Tops Millennium Plaza in Bacolod City, recently.

The tourney is organized by the Association of Negros Darters and Darts Club.

Yielding to the tandem of Chad Dalpatan of Silay and Juberay Grijaldo of Baciwa in the initial draw, Bagotayao and Ganon climbed up from the losers group to the championship, by beating all opponents along the way.

The tandem blanked the pair of Baciwa darters Melvin Adeva and Gino Amantillo in the semifinals to earn the right of challenging Robert Escollar (Baciwa) and Eric Pilpil (Bacolod Fire Department), who enjoyed a twice-to-beat privilege in the championship round, the press release said.

Despite the advantage, Escollar and Pilpil were beaten twice by Bagotayao and Ganon. Escollar and Pilpil ended up first runner-up, while Aldeva and Amantillo settled for second runner-up honors.

The event was a classified doubles draw, 501 best- of-three legs and double knockout.

Cash and trophies were awarded to the champion and the runner-up finishers.

For this month’s tournament, competition will be staged July 25. Interested parties may coordinate with Gino Amantillo, ANDDC vice president and Baciwa darts coordinator at Te. No. 0920 921 4065, the press release added.*
