Sugar workers seek action
on SSS, economic concerns
About 150 sugar workers and urban poor yesterday sought action from the Social Security System on non-remittances of their premiums, and from the provincial government on their need for economic assistance.
The group, led by Guillermo Barreta Jr. of Negros Labor Center and Mario Tapi-on of Tingug Sang Gutom (Voices of Hunger), held a picket in front of the SSS office at Lacson Street in the morning, and at the Provincial Capitol in the afternoon, to air their demands.
