The Philippine Stock Exchange and its partners will hold free stock market seminars in Iloilo and Bacolod from July 14 to 17 as part of the PSE’s widened investor education program.
In Bacolod City, the seminar will be held on July 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Sugarland Hotel. Before that, the PSE will be in Iloilo City on July 14 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel.
The resource speakers, who will discuss the basics of investing in the stock market, listing in the PSE and trading stocks online, will include Leo Quinitio, head of PSE Market Education Department; Jose Antonio Villar, head of PSE Marketing Services Department; and Jay Gammad-Penaflor, PSE market education senior specialist and local roadshows project head.

Kuok agree farm project
MANILA – San Miguel Corp. said yesterday it would invest up to a billion dollars with Malaysia's Kuok Group to develop a million hectares of Philippine farmland.
"Food supply is an important strategic tool for everyone," Manila-based San Miguel's chairman Eduardo Cojuangco told Dow Jones Newswires.
Food prices are likely to remain at "extraordinary" high levels through 2010, he added, without elaborating.


RP pledges special
courts to fight piracy
MANILA – The Philippines yesterday pledged to create a special court and law enforcement agency to combat rampant intellectual piracy and counterfeiting, the trade department said.
Manila is on the US Trade Representative's watch list of countries because of book piracy, Internet piracy, and the illegal video camera recording of films in theaters.
Washington also wants Manila to strengthen one of its regulatory agencies, the Optical Media Board.
