Guv extends leave
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Joseph Marañon has extended his leave as governor of Negros Occidental until Feb. 3.

In Executive Order No. 08-029 Series of 2008 Marañon designated Vice Governor Isidro Zayco starting yesterday as acting governor for the duration of his leave.

Marañon, who is confined at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City, said that, to ensure continuous and effective delivery of basic and social services, it is necessary to designate the vice governor to assume his duties and responsibilities.

The governor had briefly assumed the governorship this week to sign the appointment papers of contractual employees that cannot be delegated to an acting governor.

Zayco yesterday also confirmed that Board Member Janet Torres has been hospitalized at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital .

“I think a mass has been found in her breast but when I visited her she looked okay,” he said.*CPG
