| In town
This Sunday was quiet a busy social day. Jetsetter Minnie Osmeña called up to join her and Boy Montilla at Trattoria Uma. Fortunately, I was just about to join Victor Magsaysay, Raymond Lévèque (who brought in a pile of “L'Histoire” magazines for the Bacolod French Club) and Adji Lizares at newly opened next-door Café Uma of Jomi Gaston. After having a swig of chilled grappa at the very urban-designed café, I walked into the resto and had a most pleasant surprise — Clairelee Lacson in a very moderne silk blouse with flattened distressed ruffle neckline and a new bald look!
With her stunning height and diva manners, she looked Hollywood glamorous! JB and Maridel Mapa were seated on the opposite side, so, more beso-besos and congratulations on their newborn son, Niño, who was baptized earlier that day and had a grand luncheon reception at L'Fisher Hotel. BTW, L'Fisher's Sunday brunch buffet is getting to be a social institution with the BF's making a beeline to the yummy treats it offers, from fresh juicy oysters to their excellent carvings. Cocktails were earlier spent at retired offshore banker Derek Bage and Larry Lacson's new digs with civic leader Robert Harland bringing in fancy hors d'ouevres.
I attended lately a civic club that impressed me with their family activities and just plain camaraderie. My cousin Teret Arnaldo has long wanted me to join the Toastmaster's Club but I got cold feet thinking of the speeches I would have to compose and deliver at a moment's notice. Public speaking was never my forte unless it was strictly theatre and even then, I only had to memorize my lines…
I enjoyed their communal lunch and games which led to some members taking off their clothes to form the longest line on the driveway of Sta. Fe Resort—which has a new swimming pool area that will surely be the city's favorite weekend break in the approaching months of summer.*
MY PRAYER
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, make my heart like Thine!
