Court employees
stage protest, too
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Many employees of Regional and Municipal Trial Courts in Bacolod , Bago and other parts of Negros Occidental wore black yesterday to protest what they called the unfair distribution of benefits in the court system.

National officials of the Philippine Association of Court Employees had called on employees of first and second level courts to wear black every Monday.

The protestors said they are receiving far less benefits than their counterparts in the Supreme Court.

Executive Judge Lorna Demonteverde of the Municipal Trial Courts in Cities of Bacolod City said the budget for the Supreme Court is separate from that of the lower courts that are under the Office of the Court Administrator.

And because benefits are taken from savings, the SC employees get more benefits because there are less of them, she said.

She denied talk that she had sent home court employees who were in black yesterday.*CPG
