RPA disowns 8 arrested
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade yesterday disowned the eight suspects arrested for alleged involvement in the killings of a relative of Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye and the chief security officer of Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay.

RPA-ABB spokesman Victorino Sumulong identified the arrested as Brandy Nilo Gerona, Rommel Baying, Frangilico Gerona, Ely Macariola, Lloyd Perez, Jonathan Cartujano, Sienna Quiambao and Jenny Canlas. They had been reported in the media as members of the RPA-ABB, are all “operatives” of Nilo de la Cruz in his “gun-for-hire” activity in Manila .

The eight were arrested by intelligence operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office in San Pedro, Laguna on June 19.

In a statement sent to the DAILY STAR, Sumulong said that they are not legitimate members of the RPA-ABB and have no whatsoever connection with the organization.

He stressed that de la Cruz and “his bunch of pseudo-revolutuonaries” were all expelled as members of the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas and the RPA-ABB due to gross violations of Party rules, gangsterism and money-making activities during the 3 rd National Congress of the RPM-P in June last year.

He claimed that de la Cruz was involved in the Umali assassination, the failed assassination of Go Teng Kok and former Rep. Dodot Jaworski, and cited the result of an investigation conducted by the RPA-ABB National Military Command.

Sumulong also commending the police for the arrest of eight suspects.

He also stressed that the RPA-ABB does not condone and will never tolerate anti-people and counter-revolutionary activities.*GPB
