| A raffle draw for the benefit of priests at the Domus Dei, at the Sacred Heart Seminary compound in Bacolod City , will be held March 24, “charity diva” Token Lizares said yesterday.
She said Fr. Demetri Gatia, president of the Priest Care Foundation, has called on the faithful to help support the fund-raiser as proceeds will be used for old and sick priests.
“One way of showing our love to God is by loving our priests,” Lizares stressed.
At stake are P100,00 as grand prize, P50,000 – second prize, P25,000 – third, five P10,000 in fourth prizes, and 10 consolation prizes of P5,000 each, Lizares said.
Tickets priced at P200 are available at the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish in Brgy. Taculing, Domus Dei at Tel. No. 434-6579, or Token Lizares at 433-8670.
Meanwhile, Lizares said that Bishop Vicente Navarra and Fr. Aniceto Buenafe are also campaigning for those who can donate tin cans for the Caritas Bacolod which will be launched next month, at the San Sebastian Cathedral.

Rotary clubs hold youth camp
The 11th annual Rotary Youth Camp on Values and the 8th Rotary Youth Leadership Awards took place last weekend at the CICM Seminary in Talisay City .
Thirty-seven second year students from high schools in Negros Occidental participated in the event hosted by the Rotary Club of Bacolod North, a press release from Robert Harland said.
The two-day program included lectures on leadership skills, love of God, love of family, love of community, and love of the environment plus structured learning experience activities and workshops enabling participants to learn by experience.
Louie Gonzaga, past president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod North, said "The camp endeavors to inculcate basic values and behaviors that develop positive leadership and influences among participants", the press release said.
Among the sponsors of the camp were the Rotary Clubs of Bacolod North, Bacolod Marapara, Bacolod , Bacolod West, Bacolod East, Metro Bacolod, Kabankalan, Victorias and Escalante.
Students came from Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School, and the high schools of Luis Hervias, Domingo Lacson, Bacolod City , Brgy. Singcang, Negros Occidental, Handumanan, Binicuil, Victorias , Escalante, Bata, La Consolacion College , Gardenville and St. Scholastica's Academy, the press release said.*

footbridge inaugurated
A new reinforced concrete footbridge and renovation of a flood control system at So. Haguimitan, Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City , was inaugurated yesterday.
San Carlos Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Board Member Renato Gustilo, Punong Barangay Mark Cui and the Barangay Kagawads of Barangay Palampas officiated the ribbon cutting and blessing of the project, a San Carlos City press release said.
The construction of the project cost P2,080,000 and was funded by the Local Government of San Carlos through the Lump Sum Appropriation of 2007.
The flood control system was also renovated to secure the community from said calamity, the press release added.*

seminar held in Silay
The first session in the series of Tourism Police Seminar-Workshop in Silay City , Negros Occidental, held recently was attended by 50 policemen led by Supt. Roderick Augustus Alba, a Silay City press release said.
Topics included "Understanding Tourist Attractions in Silay," "Protocol and Social Grace", "Escorting VIPs", "Handling Foreign Tourists Violating Philippine Laws" and "Familiarizing Common Incidents Related to Tourism".
The press release also said that Mayor Jose Montelibano said that he wants Silay policemen to be tourist-friendly and he expects them to provide tourists the basic information about the tourism potentials of the city.
Alba is also giving seminar-workshops to barangay tanods of the 16 barangays to augment the regular police force considering the influx of visitors in Silay due to the operations of the airport, the press release said.
The seminar was jointly facilitated by the Silay City Tourism Division, Silay City Tourism Development Council and Air Transportation Office, in coordination with the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental, the press release added.*
