I-tax helping pilot areas
in province, Mendez says
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The implementation of the Integrated Taxation to the pilot local government units in Negros Oriental yielded positive results, provincial treasurer Danilo Mendez said Friday.

He said the I-tax has helped in getting better tax goals in the pilot areas or Bayawan City , Dumaguete City , Zamboanguita , Valencia , Sibulan, San Jose , Amlan, Pamplona , Mabinay, Manjuyod and Bindoy.

Mendez said, however, that he  cannot  fully assure  the  success  of  the system since  it is  still  on  the  pilot  stage, although it is presently improving.

The  PTO  is  trying  to  ask  for approval  from the Commission on Audit to use computer-generated  receipts  for taxpayers, but  until now the COA has not yet commented on it.

I-tax is a computer generated system specifically designed for storing all tax data in a certain locality. It is backed by German technology aiming for a reliable government tax collection.*MA
