traffic ordinance
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

An ordinance amending C.O. 338, that regulates traffic parking, towing and other transporting or commuting activities in Bacolod City , was approved on first reading by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

Proposed by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., the ordinance also provides for the establishment of route system of public utility vehicles and trucks, and the redefining of loading and unloading zones in the city.

The ordinance aims to solve the bourgeoning traffic problems brought about by the inevitable growth in the city due to the realization of development sites, especially the establishment of the new government center, structures established by shopping centers and call centers, massive infrastructure projects brought about by the proliferation of mass housing programs and new market sites, it said.

It also said the city has conducted a series of traffic experiments under the supervision of the Traffic Management Unit and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office.*CGS
