The art of dancing

Irene Caram and Mayen Lizares became friends when they found in each other a common thread: dance, dance, dance.

The first Flamenco and dance concert in Bacolod City , also their maiden concert, was held in October 2005 at the L'Fisher Hotel. Their shared pains and aches are nothing compared to the laughter and the friendship that came with its preparation. It was a great success!

The Irene-Mayen tandem was smooth, as they helped and consulted each another. Six months after their first show, they opened their studio “Zambra Gitana Dance and Fitness.”

It offers sensuality of belly-dancing and the fire of Spanish dance in its classic and Flamenco Form. Recently, the 3rd Flamenco and Belly Dance concert at Sugarland Hotel, for the benefit of the Holy Family Home Foundation, was such a hit!

Irene started dancing ballet and jazz at the age of five, became a professional group fitness trainer at the age of 18. She had formal training in Bally's Holiday SPA, California , U.S.A.

She discovered the art of belly dancing during the 1997 Lebanese reunion, where she and two other Lebanese women, performed belly dancing. Later, she joined several workshops.

Mayen did a complete Flamenco dance at the Manila PhilAm Auditorium at the age of four. The only daughter of international-caliber Guillermo Gomez, Mayen took ballet and jazz with the top and best teachers in the Philippines , including Sony Lopez Gonzales, Tony Fabella and Douglas Niemas.

Fusion Gitana, Mayen and Irene also presented different kinds of dance numbers which entertained the crowd.

Remember: He who behaves honorably will walk safely, but the followers of crooked ways will be punished.*
