eye overtaking
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A sugar planter and his cousin were shot and injured by an unidentified gunman on Tuesday night in Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City , and police suspect it was triggered by an overtaking of motorcycles.

Slightly injured were Norberto Lumayno and his cousin, Nicholas Caballero, who were on their way to Brgy. Minapasok, Calatrava, on board a motorcycle, when they were shot three times by a gunman also riding a motorcycle that overtook them.

Lumayno was hit in the neck, and Caballero on the right shoulder. Both were taken to the Escalante District Hospital but were released after treatment.

Three empty shells of .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the scene.

The shooting incident was initially reported in Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso but Senior Inspector Nestor Tuadles, Toboso police chief, discovered upon checking that it took place near the Pentecostal Church at Sitio Beraw in Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City .

The suspect reportedly fled towards Calatrava still on the motorcycle.

Police investigators are still clueless as to his identity.*GPB
