IN SILAY
Man nabbed for extortion

A resident of Purok Acacia Boulevard , Brgy. Mambulac, Silay was arrested recently for extortion by intelligence operatives of the Silay City police station under Supt. Roderick Augustus Alba, a press release from the station said.

Jonathan Cuesta alias “Nene Cuesta,” 38, was collared in an entrapment operation inside the house of a complainant, who refused to be named, in Brgy Guinhalaran, the press release said.

The complainant said she was threatened by Cuesta, who claimed to be a policeman detailed to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and whom she had met during the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City last year.

She said Cuesta was about to go to her house to extort money and this prompted her to seek help from the Silay PNP, the press release said.

Recovered from Cuesta were a homemade .38 caliber revolver 5.56 without serial number, six live ammunition for caliber 5.56, and the three P500 bills in marked money.

Investigation showed that Cuesta also has standing warrants of arrest for illegal possession of firearms in Bacolod , violation of the anti-fencing and anti-carnapping laws, and estafa in Silay, the press release said.

Cuesta is now detained at the Silay PNP lock-up cell, the press release added.*
