Ex-CAGFU, son nabbed
for theft of cocks
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An ex-Citizen's Armed Forces Geographical Unit member and his son, both parolees and tagged as suspects in the theft of fighting cocks in Himamaylan City, were arrested by the police on Monday in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City .

Supt. Armando Tubongbanua, now Himamaylan police chief, yesterday said the arrest of ex-CAFGU member Antonio Villegas, 48, and his son, Michael, 24, led to the recovery of 10 stolen fighting cocks.

Tubongbanua said they also arrested Silverio Pedojan, 55, a neighbor of Villegas, when they also found some of the stolen fighting cocks at his residence in Sitio Bantayanan, Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City .

Gamefowl breeders Niel Bustamante and Brando Iligan had complained to the police that their cock farms had been ransacked by unidentified robbers in Sitio Naga, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City , on Jan. 6.

Tubongbanua said they arrested the two suspects in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City , on Jan. 21, after a two-week pursuit operations and recovered some stolen fighting cocks.

Police investigations also showed that Villegas and his son were recently released from the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa, where they were imprisoned for cattle-rustling.

Tubongbanua said theft charges were filed yesterday against Villegas and his son, as well as against Pedojan before the City Prosecutor's Office of Himamaylan.*GPB
