‘RPA leader' tagged in killing
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An alleged leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade was tagged by witnesses as a suspect in the death of a civilian whose companion was also injured, in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City , Negros Occidental, police said.

Police investigations show that a certain Charlie, an alleged leader of the RPA-ABB operating in the hinterlands of San Carlos City and Calatrava, armed with a .45 caliber pistol, shot dead Dominador Gabia, and injured his companion, Romeo Bayodan, 52, on Jan. 13.

The shooting took place at the videokee house of Bayodan in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City , where the suspect was having drinks, police said.

Supt. Harold Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, yesterday said their investigations indicated that it was Bayodan who was the target of Charlie, and Gabia was only hit in the crossfire but died on the spot. Bayodan, who sustained a gunshot wound in the left arm, is now being treated at the San Carlos District Hospital .

Tuzon said the companion of Charlie, identified as Juvy Siado, a pedicab driver, was later released after it was found out that he had no participation in the crime.

Four empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol and a live ammunition were recovered from the crime scene by San Carlos City policemen.

Tuzon said Bayodan had challenged Charlie to a fistfight two months ago, during a drinking spree.

Murder and frustrated murder charges are being readied by the police against the alleged RPA-ABB leader this week.*GPB
