Boy plays with gun,
hits 8-year-old friend
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A 13-year-old boy playing with the homemade unlicensed gun of his father accidentally shot his 8-year-old playmate who is now confined at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City .

Carlo Villegas Alcasarin was hit in the face and lost several of his teeth but is now out of danger, Superintendent Norberto Boston, Victorias Police chief, said yesterday.

Boston said no adults were present when the 13-year-old was urged by his playmates to get his father's gun from their house in Hacienda Tison, Barangay 11, Victorias City , so they could play with it.

The boy got the homemade .38 caliber revolver from a cabinet in their house and fired it, hitting his friend, Boston said.

The 13-year-old ran for help. He is now in the custody of the city social welfare personnel, while his father, is detained at the Victorias police station, Boston said.

Boston said he will refer the matter to the city prosecutor to determine what to file against the father who could be charged for negligence and illegal possession of a firearm.*CPG
