‘Guv may be able
to go home soon'
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Marañon, who has been confined at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City since Jan. 14, may be able to go home in a few more days, his chief of staff Jose Ma. Valencia said yesterday.

The governor was put on a soft diet Saturday and was able to eat some solid food, Valencia said.

However, the extent of his food intake has to be done gradually to avoid any complications considering that he has not been able to take any solid food for a week, Valencia said.

His food intake is still being supplemented with intravenous feeding, Valencia said.

Dr. Jesus Perez, the governor's doctor from Manila , has decided to keep the governor in the hospital for a couple more days for further observation after which he probably will be allowed to go home, Valencia said.

The governor really looks well this time. Dr. Perez said he looks better than when he went to Manila for a check-up in December, Valencia said.

Meanwhile, the governor who has been informed of the overwhelming concern and prayers for his recovery is very grateful and happy, Valencia said.

But Valencia reiterated that a strict no-visitors rule has been imposed by his doctors to allow him to get needed rest and this is still being enforced.

The governor has been enjoying listening to music of Josh Groban, Valencia said.

The governor's favorite song is “You Raise Me Up,” Valencia also said, the lyrics of which say “You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be..”*CPG
