Gun Club of Negros Occidental standouts Tootsie Anglo and Janette Gonzaga came through with golden finishes in the Philippine Practical Shooting Association Nationals in Cabatauan town, Iloilo .

Anglo topped the production division production (9MM) senior category and finished second in the overall production division of the event that serves one of the qualifiers for the World Shoot in Bali , Indonesia late this year.

Gonzaga, meanwhile, claimed top honors in the standard lady division of the Jan. 14-19 level 3 event that drew 436 shooters from more than 10 countries.

Another GCNO standout, Stephen Hinojales failed to sustain his impressive form in the first two days of the competition, after encountering problems with his gun.

Gonzaga and Anglo's achievements come a month after their successful stint in the Australasia shootfest in Pattaya , Thailand .

Despite the setback, Hinojales remains a strong contender for a spot in the World Shoot, owing to his creditable performance in the AustralAsia shootfest.

He still has a chance to make the grade with other qualifying tournaments set, including in Cebu next month.

Among the countries represented in the PPSA Nationals were HongKong, United States, Japan, Canada, Netherlands, Australia and Singapore, Gonzaga said. *CPT
