Rains good for Siquijor farmers
BY RENE GENOVE

The Siquijor Provincial Agriculture Office is advising farmers to take advantage of the continuous heavy rains that bring more good than damage to crops.

Edgar Anhao, supervising agriculturist and chief for the Research Division of the PAO, said damages to crops cannot be avoided in situations where rains continue to pour for several days.

In Siquijor, however, the damage has been very minimal compared to the blessings the rain brought to the farmers, he added.

Anhao said that several corn plantations in San Juan town were uprooted due to continuous heavy rains, but their office has requested the Regional Crop Protection Center personnel, to conduct monitoring and evaluation of the affected areas.

He urged farmers to come to their office for assistance in cases like these.*RG
