Twenty-year-old Shekina Rose Lasola of Dumaguete City , who was sponsored by the municipality of Ayungon , in Negros Oriental won as the first Hara Sang Negros 2008 in a search which highlighted the 32nd Sinulog Festival in Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental, recently, a press release said.

First runner-up Joannie Magbanua, 17, of Canlaon City and sponsored by Brgy. 1, and second runner-up was Bina April Saycon, 17, of Tanjay City .

Eighteen candidates vied for the title in a pageant directed by Rene Hinojales, held at the Kabankalan Catholic College gym, the press release said.

Lasola also received the corporate awards as Miss Gaisano and Miss Negros Navigation. Magbanua won the Best in Evening Gown while Saycon won the Most Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit, Diwata Sang Mag-aso and Miss HBC.

Lasola is a third year nursing student at the Foundation University in Dumaguete. She is the daughter of Rosewell Lasola and Emeral Diputado.

A former candidate for the Search of Ms. Teen Philippines, Lasola said she is glad to have joined HARA because it is also her dream to see the Oriental and Occidental sides of Negros become one and united, the press release added.*
