The Rivulet Corporation, which is allegedly owned partly by the family of first gentleman Mike Arroyo, has applied for an exemption of the coverage for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program of its 150-hectare property in Isabela, Negros Occidental, DAR regional director Alexis Arsenal said.
Arsenal said the petitioner has been ordered to submit the needed documents to justify their exemption from CARP coverage.
Task Force Mapalad has been repeatedly calling on DAR to place the Arroyo property in Isabela, Negros Occidental, under CARP, and for a review of the role played by landowners in the implementation of the agrarian reform program. 


Victorias ' tons milled down,
raw sugar output up last CY
Victorias Milling Company posted a four percent decrease in its tons milled and a two percent increase in raw sugar output during the crop year 2006-2007, the Negros del Norte Planters Association Inc., which mills with VMC, said in its report.
In NDNPAI's report for crop year 2006-2007, its president Arsenio Al. Acuña said that during the period, VMC milled 3,149,030 tons canes and produced a total sugar production of 6,616,383 Lkgs.
The decrease in tons milled was 116,198 tons or four percent less than the previous years' volume of 3,365,228 tons. 


Hog farmers to hold
confab in Mandaue
The National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. will hold its 17 th Annual Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits on April 24 to 26 at the Cebu International Convention in Mandaue City , Cebu , a press from organizers said.
The convention theme is “Enhancing Pork Production for the Export Market. It will be hosted by the Cebu Association of Meat and Poultry Products Multi-Purpose Cooperative headed by Pluy Ong, chairman.
It will gather both commercial and backyard hog farmers across the country, and will feature a Backyard Hog Farmers Congress to be sponsored by B-Meg and San Miguel Foods Inc.
