Pagdilao post in
WV still uncertain
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The hope of Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao of getting the position of regional police director of Western Visayas may be dashed with the carrying up of the name of Chief Supt. Isagani Cueva who has occupied various positions at the PRO 6, among the strong contenders for the post to be vacated by Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay next month.

Dulay is retiring from the police service on Feb. 14 when he reaches the mandatory age retirement of 56.

Pagdilao, former PNP spokesman, was re-assigned to PRO 6 as deputy regional director for Administration, in Dec. 31 last year.

Cuevas, a member of the Philippine Military Class '78, has reportedly got the backing of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales, an Ilonggo.

Members of the PMA Class '77 earlier protested over the projected appointment of Pagdilao as Western Visayas police chief, replacing Dulay.

The Senior Officers Promotion and Placement Board chaired by PNP chief Avelino has the final say on who will be selected as police director of Region 6.

The name of Chief Supt. Florencio Caccam has also been floated as a contender for the position.

Pagdilao recently visited provincial and city police offices in Region, for familiarization on advice of outgoing regional police director of Western Visayas .

Dulay is among the 18 police generals to retire this year, among them Police Director Edgardo Doromel of Sagay City, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, on retire Feb. 9.*GPB
