| The request of the Bacolod City government for exemption for the cancellation of authority to issue Temporary Operator's Permit was granted by Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza, a press release from the Office of Bacolod Councilor Wilson Gamboa said.
Gamboa said he had written Land Transportation Office Chief Assistant Secretary Reynaldo Berroya for exemption on Jan. 4, 2008, from latter's directive suspending the issuance of TOP's by deputized police and traffic enforcers in Bacolod City , it said.
The release of Gamoboa said that although the approval has not yet been put into writing, it was agreed that the issuance of the TOP will be implemented in coordination with LTO Bacolod Chief Norman Saril during a meeting held by the Bantay Banwa with Mendoza Thursday.
Gamboa said that with the exemption granted by Mendoza , the traffic enforcers can direct and maintain the orderly flow of traffic and enforce all traffic laws and regulations of the city, his press release said.
Also present at the meeting were Executive Assistant Alex Coloso, LTO regional director Gerard Camiña, Acting Bacolod Traffic Authority chief Jessie Quiatchon, and Bantay Banwa chairman for external affairs Joseling Abello, BB vice chairman for internal affairs Roberto Soliven and members Freddie Zayco and Tonet Kilayko, the press release also said.*CGS
