gun for finals slots

Seven boxers from Barangay Punta Taytay gun for championship berths on Sunday when they vie in the semifinals of the 1 st Golden Gloves Monico Cup Inter-Barangay Amateur Boxing Tournament at SM City in Bacolod .

Roland Servania tries to get Punta Taytay's campaign off to a rousing start when he rubs mitts with Eljean Hermedalla of Sum-ag in the 26 kg. division.

Another Punta Taytay-Sum-ag showdown was also forged in the 28 kg. class where Punta Taytay will parade Razil Orcada against Zorin Labordo.

About 100 golfers are seeing action in the Bacolod-Silay International Airport Inaugural Golf Tournament that tees off at 6 a.m. today at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City .

Five titles are up for grabs in the one-day event supported by the Department of Transportation and Communication, headed by Sec. Leandro Mendoza, who is also president of the National Golf Association of the Philippines .

At stake are the crowns in Class A, B, C and D and the ladies division.

14 th Sugar Tee
winners known

The tandems of Patrick Go and Rolly Basco and Erwin Madrelino and Jun Aqui were among the topnotchers in the 14 th Sugar Tee Mariano Lim Memorial Golf Tournament at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City recently.

Go, an NOGCC regular, and Basco tallied 164 points to emerge as the net champion, while Madrelino, with a 3 handicap, and Aqui were overall gross titlists with 127 points.

Carting away with the group A title was the duo of Rey Lim (7 handicap) and Gabriel Yap (9 handicap). Coming in second were Jun Bantug-Bobby Iñigo with 153 points, Toto Rivera-Menieng Maravilla (152 points) and Jeoleo Torrecampo and Garry Farin (151 points).
