WNC-La Salle
clash for U-19 title
BY CEDELF TUPAS

Defending champion West Negros College goes for another title Sunday when it clashes with University of St. La Salle in the NOFA Provincial Men's Football Under-19 finals at the Manuel Torres Sports Center pitch in Bago City .

The booters of WNC coach Norman Fegidero Jr. and the Freddie Lazarito-mentored USLS side go into the finals unbeaten and another tough match is anticipated, considering that both teams also disputed the crown last year.

The championship showdown was only firmed up Wednesday when the La Salle booters were given the green light play by USLS varsity head Roger Banzuela, who said they have been assured by the Negros Occidental Football Association that proper security measures are in place for Sunday's showdown.

Chaos had marred La Salle's previous game in Bago City in Dec. 2 when unruly fans charged at the USLS players and coaching staff, following the fight between Bago standout Rey Boy Sacapaño and Jae Von Lobation of La Salle .

The free-for-all happened with five minutes left and La Salle ahead, 2-0. La Salle was awarded the win by referee Catalino Valderrama Jr.

Defending champion West Negros set up a title showdown after posting a 5-0 drubbing of San Carlos City last Sunday also in Bago City.*CPT
