Tan Kek Pin Cup
opens Sunday

A triple-header will usher in the 8 th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup that starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Former Colegio San Agustin standouts Christian Antiporda, Joemel Garrido and Antonio De la Peña spearheads Talisay Athletic Club, which debuts against Province of Negros Occidental in the lone class A match shortly after the opening ceremony.

Welcoming the teams are Ralph Richard Tan, president of the organizing FIl-Sino Athletic Club, and Andrew Tan, son of former basketball patron Tan Kek Pin.

Both newcomers in class B, BACIWA and Marko Metals clash in the second game on Sunday, before the group D match Rentas Knights goes up against last year's losing finalist Davies Paint to complete the triple-header.

Among the players to watch this year are former West Negros College Mustang Ely Olarte and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Ram Joemarie Bayhon, who will suit up for BBC, along with Robert Buñol and Joebert Pastias.

World of Fun will also have a former Mustang in Arnold Laureño, former CSA-B hotshot Johnson Salazar and Rodel Canino.

BACIWA and Marko are in bracket B of the 16-team tournament, along with Air Power System and Meguiar's Streetwash. Gentec Atlantic, Panasonic, Head and Shoulders and Sam's Gym make up group A.

Bracket C is composed of Foodman, Province of Negros Occidental-B, Tamspec and KJ Fairmart-City Savings Bank, while Café Breizh and Rexona Men's Power complete group D.*CPT
