| The Canadian International Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Agreement yesterday with the University of St. La Salle designating the school as an academic partner institution to receive training and knowledge materials from the agency.
In a press conference, CIDA PEARL2 Project Director Ed Sutherland said the materials will be used for the training programs the school will initiate for executive directors of non-government organizations, professional associations, business support groups, and investment promotion centers.
He said the program for executive directors will help develop small and medium enterprises and improve organizational performance.
Donna Echaus of USLS Graduate School said the USLS, as repository of the CIDA materials and initiator of the trainings, can help promote social development and assist in the upgrading of skills among executive directors of NGOs and professional and business support groups.
Meanwhile, Sutherland said that sectoral enhancement, partnership development facility, and capacity development of investment promotion are the three components of the CIDA PEARL2 Project.
Under the SE component, support will be provided to six of the 10 revenue streams in the Department of Trade and Industry strategy which include furniture, food processing, wearables, natural and organic products, gifts and housewares, and information technology.*NAB
