The Canadian International Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Agreement yesterday with the University of St. La Salle designating the school as an academic partner institution to receive training and knowledge materials from the agency.
In a press conference, CIDA PEARL2 Project Director Ed Sutherland said the materials will be used for the training programs the school will initiate for executive directors of non-government organizations, professional associations, business support groups, and investment promotion centers.
He said the program for executive directors will help develop small and medium enterprises and improve organizational performance. 


Prices of ‘B' sugar decline
but still above P1,000/Lkg
Most prices of domestic or “B” sugar dropped this week, but still remained above P1,000 per Lkg, based on the price monitor of the Sugar Master Plan Foundation.
This week, prices range from P1,015.29 to P1,048 while last week, were still between P1,025.50 and P1,078.69.
At the Jan. 17 bidding, Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company disposed its “B” stocks at P1,025.50 (high) and P1,023 (low); Hawaiian-Philippine Company, P1,043.31 (high) and P1,040 (low); 


Japan okays P5.97B
loan for CARP
MANILA – Japan has approved a P5.97 billion (11.80 billion yen) for the Philippines to support the building and repair of "basic infrastructure" for farm workers who received land through the country's 19-year-old agrarian reform program, the department said yesterday.
It is part of the 19.4 billion yen in loans granted by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to the Philippines to support land reform and bring relief to communities threatened by volcanic mud.
