tilt opens Jan. 26

One of NOPSSCEA's two developmental leagues, the 10-Under division, kicks off on Jan. 26 with basketball and soft volleyball games taking centerstage at the University of St. La Salle .

Eight squads have confirmed participation in basketball, led by St. La Salle. Also seeing action are Trinity Christian School , St. John's Institute, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, Jack and Jill School-City Heights , JJS-PHHC, Bacolod Tay Tung High School and St. Theresita's Academy.

Disputing the crown in the boys' soft volley tournament Queen of Peace School, which is fielding two squads, La Consolacion College-Main, USLS, JJS-PHHC, St. Benilde School and SJI.

Bacolod windsurfers
win in Boracay event

Three windsurfers from Bacolod City landed within the top eight of their respective divisions during the 20 th Boracay Funboard Cup in Aklan recently.

Dave Jison, 32, of the Hangingon Windsurfering club of Bacolod came third in the tough junior master's category (30-39).

Windsurfing pioneer and coach, Chepit Dulay, who spearheaded the group, said Jison saw action in a category where most of the best windsurfers competed.

tourney tips off

The Basketball Unified Sports Group opens its 2008 Friday scrimmages season with four teams vying for a cash prize starting at 6:30 tonight at the Lopue's South Square gym in Bacolod City .

BACIWA, Tangub Riders, D' Axial Engineering and X BAC will see action after the opening ceremony and drawing of lots. The protagonists were divided into four teams from active membership of 50 BUS Group Huskies who will don the white and lavender uniforms.

The Watermen will be led by skipper Lupo Occeño and assistant Abet Jarder. Tangub is under Moises Padilla and Ed Cruz while D' Axial Engineering is captained by Rene Antones backed by Armando Soberano and Vie Dueñas. Adviser Bing Soyao and Siao Hua Ng are team leaders for the X BAC.
