offer reward for suspects The family of the Chinese-Filipino businessman killed allegedly by his house helpers in Bacolod City last year has offered a reward for the capture of the suspects, Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, said yesterday.
Quebrar said the family of Fransisco Lim, 64, has offered a P100,000 bounty for any information that could lead to the arrest of “Ferrer” Pineda and “Marby” seven months after the businessman was found dead in his house at the corner of C.L. Montelibano Avenue and Narra Street , Brgy. Villamonte, in the city.
Lim's body was found by his secretary on June 15, 2007 with multiple stab and hack wounds, allegedly inflicted by “Ferrer” and “Marby.”
The BCPO had said robbery could have been the motive for the killing as around P20,000 in cash was missing from the businessman's house.
The National Bureau of Investigation had released facial sketches of the two suspects and it has been searching for them, along with the Philippine National Police.
Lim's family said that they hired the two without any bio-data and they had been performing their tasks well before the killing.
The artists' drawing show “Ferrer” to be about 20-25 years old, of medium build, with dark brown complexion, and about 5 feet 6 inches tall.
He also has tattoos on his right arm and on the right side of his back, and speaks fluent Ilonggo, NBI records show.
On the other hand, “Marby”, who speaks Cebuano, is about 17 years old, of small build with fair complexion, and about 4 feet 11 inches tall, the bureau said.
Quebrar called on the public to report any sightings of “Ferrer” and “Marby” to law enforcement agencies like the PNP, NBI, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
He added that they are assuring anonymity to anyone who could give information on the two.*PP

Man nabbed for
using employer's name
Police nabbed a man for allegedly using the name of his old employer to get merchandise from a construction company in Bacolod City yesterday, the police said.
Michael Trasmonte, 30, of Purok 4, Brgy. Granada , in Bacolod , was arrested by Police Station 4 officers while trying to order gallons of paint worth P10,000 from United Commercial at about 3 p.m. yesterday, station commander, Senior Inspector Santiago Rapiz said.
They said investigation showed that Trasmonte has been using the order slips, “bale”, of his former employer, RM Construction, to get assorted building materials even when he has not been connected with the establishment for almost a year now, Rapiz said.
The suspect, however, pointed to a certain “Juning”, an active member of RM Construction, as the one behind this activity and two previous incidents that involved more than P25,000 each in building materials for each order, Rapiz said.
RM Construction, however, told investigators they have no employee named or nicknamed “Juning” and Rapiz said a close inspection of the signature on the orders slips shows they are Trasmonte's.
This could only mean that Trasmonte is just using an alleged accomplice as his defense, Rapiz said.
Trasmonte is now detained at the precinct's lock-up cell, and could face swindling charges, Rapiz added.*PP
