donate school supplies

A group of Japanese volunteers donated school supplies and sports equipment to three elementary schools in Santa Catalina town through the local Rotary Club.

The three schools were Caranoche Elementary School , Santa Catalina Elementary School and Nagbalaye Elementary School .

The volunteers said they are members of Joho Roren Shizuoka headed by Hidenori Miura.

Santa Catalina Mayor Ruben Melodia expressed his appreciation to the group for choosing his town as the recipient.

He said the sports equipment will help in their sports development, while the school supplies will also be a big help to the poor children in his town.

JRS also donated some water pipes to Barangay Caranoche last year during its visit to the province.

The donated items were distributed Sunday, at Carananoche Elementary School .

Present at the turnover were members of Rotary Club of Dumaguete and the Japanese Filipino School of Performing Arts.

Around 2,500 elementary children received notebooks, pens, crayons and other school supplies, while the sports equipments were given to the school for its sports development program.

After the distribution, a free lunch consisting of Filipino-Japanese food was served to the children.

JRS President Hidenori Miura said they were glad to share their blessings to children in Santa Catalina , Negros Oriental. She said she hopes they could give more next time they come to the province.*MA
