NOFA UNDER-19 FINALS
USLS booters
gets green light
BY CEDELF TUPAS

The University of St. La Salle will play in the NOFA Provincial Men's Football Under-19 finals, after all.

The La Salle booters were given the green light to dispute the title with arch-rival West Negros College by USLS varsity head Roger Banzuela, who said they have been assured by the Negros Occidental Football Association that proper security measures are in place for Sunday's showdown at the Manuel Torres Sports Center pitch.

“We have discussed the matter with (USLS president) Bro. Rey Suplido and the parents of the players have also allowed their children to play,” Banzuela said.

A riot marred La Salle's previous game in Bago City in Dec. 2 when unruly fans charged at the USLS players and coaching staff, following the fight between Bago standout Rey Boy Sacapaño and Jae Von Lobation of La Salle .

The free-for-all happened with five minutes left and La Salle ahead, 2-0.

Defending champion West Negros set up a title showdown after posting a 5-0 drubbing of San Carlos City last Sunday also in Bago City.*CPT
