| 2 nabbed for robbery Two men were arrested for their involvement in the burglary of a store in Bacolod City Monday, the police said yesterday.
Jun-Jun Openlo. alias “Gigi”, 28, and Roland Villanueva alias “Suma”, 25, were nabbed by Police Station 1 officers led by Chief Inspector Noel Manaay in Purok Rosal, Brgy. Taculing, in the city, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Manaay said the suspects were caught while trying to sell assorted veterinary medicines allegedly stolen from the Farmers' Supply Center owned by Jacklyn Chua, at the Bacolod Central Market at Luzuriaga Street , in Bacolod , last week.
Also missing after the burglary were P7,000 in cash and three cellphones, police records show.
The suspects, however, denied stealing the medicines, saying they were just left by a certain Dennis Torres and “Michael Ex-convict” to them on January 7.
Manaay said charges are being readied against Openlo and Villanueva, who did not resist the arrest and surrendered the items when apprehended.
During the weekend, robbers also broke into an appliance center in Bacolod City and took more than P100,000 worth of sewing machines, components, VCD and DVD players.
A porter, who, Manaay said, is his group's tipster on what stores they can rob at the Bacolod downtown area, has been arrested and is now facing robbery charges.
Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, has called on business establishment for cooperation in deterring burglaries.*PP
