Police security is up for the inauguration of the P5.6 billion New Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City to be attended by Vice President Noli de Castro at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The media noted that Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who has been lobbying for the retention of the Bacolod airport even after the new one opens in Silay, was not among the officials included in the inauguration rites program.

Leonardia said personally he really does not mind that he was not included in the program because he has always been a pro Bacolod airport advocate “ever since and until now”. moremoremore

Valencia said yesterday.

Valencia said he was very happy that the governor, who has been confined at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City since Monday, has had stable vital signs in the past two days.

In fact, the doctors already stopped giving him oxygen, Valencia said. moremoremore

DAR needs more personnel
to accomplish 6-year target
BY NIDA BUENAFE

The Department of Agrarian Reform office in Negros Occidental will need 50 more personnel to accomplish its 90,000 hectares target in the next six years under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, PARO Teresita Depeñoso said yesterday in a meeting with DAR Assistant Secretary Dominador Andres.

Depeñoso said the request for additional manpower was made on the presumption that the program will be extended for at least six years.

Andres told her that he will refer the request to the central office for approval, but Depeñoso has to submit immediately a project proposal that will contain her target accomplishment and her proposed strategies.
