Renew licenses,
rice traders told

Grains businessmen from four cities and towns in Negros Occidental are reminded by the National Food Authority-Negros Occidental to renew their NFA license this January.

Included in the list for renewal are rice traders from E.B. Magalona, Manapla, Bacolod City , and Talisay City , the NFA said in a press release.

Requirements are business license (for old applicant) and 2x2 picture and TIN card (for new applicant). Payment for license/registration fee and other transactions will be received by the NFA cashier until 2 p.m. only. Those transacting beyond 2 p.m. can pay through the Land Bank of the Philippines .

NFA manager Marianito Bejemino said in the press release accredited outlets such as Bigasan ni Gloria sa Palengke, Tindahan Natin, Bigasan sa Parokya and outside market grains retailers may now apply for re-accreditation as NFA rice outlet.

This is part of NFA's policy to ensure that these outlets comply with the rules and regulations in selling NFA rice, he said.

Outlets also need to have facilities such as white rice boxes, price tags, calibrated weighing scale, NFA license signboard, and TN or BGP streamers in a conspicuous place.

Bejemino said the NFA Enforcement Team will monitor rice outlets for compliance, and they will withhold or disapprove the applications for re-accreditation of outlets with incomplete facilities.

He said that with the gradual phase out of outside market retailers this year, accredited retailers are advised to coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare in their areas for possible inclusion as Tindahan Natin operators, the press release added.*
