CHR monitors auxiliary force

The Commission on Human Rights in Negros Oriental has reiterated that it will closely monitor the activities of the newly-formed auxiliary force in Bayawan City , to ensure that human rights are not violated.

CHR Special Investigator Jesus Cañete said the auxiliary force will be deployed to different barangays in Bayawan armed with high-powered rifles.

It is cloaked with authority introduced to them during a month-long training, unlike army troopers who train for six months.

seedbeds, PCA urges

The Philippine Coconut Authority in Negros Oriental is encouraging big-time coconut producers to make their own coconut seedbeds under the Participatory Coconut Planting program.

Provincial manager Brendan Trasmonte of NFA said they have already evaluated the area and seedbeds of the 3,227 farmers who have applied for the program.

But the PCA national office ordered the further intensification of the campaign and increase in the number of participating farmers.

TransCo to reset,
shorten brownouts

The National Transmission Corp. is carefully studying the possibility of shortening and rescheduling of the power interruption in Negros island, earlier reported to take place in February and March, its Corporate Communications Office said in a statement issued yesterday.

TransCo said it discussed the interruption of power supply during its coordination meeting with customers and other representatives from the energy sector.
