‘No Bacolod STL
approval yet'
BY NIDA BUENAFE

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has not yet approved the application to operate Small Town Lottery in Bacolod City , STL operator Super Lucky Beagler Inc. president, Raymond Catedral, said yesterday.

He said the delay is understandable as the process usually takes time and they only submitted the application to the PCSO on the last week of December after securing favorable endorsement from the city government.

Catedral said they are following up the papers with the PCSO and expect to receive it after the PCSO board approves the application through the majority of its members.

He added that everything is in place and SLBI is ready to handle the STL operation as soon as the approval from the PCSO is given.

Fr. Aniceto Buenafe of the Social Action Office said they still hope that the PCSO will not approve the application of the SLBI and stop the move to allow STL in the city.

He said petition letters against STL were also sent by the Diocese of Bacolod to the Office of the President and the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Earlier, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod endorsed the operation of the STL and Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued a Mayor's Certificate of No Objecction despite objections from the church.

Leonardia said he is allowing STL's operation and is being consistent with his stand which is based on the fact that casino, bingo, lotto, sweepstakes and cockfighting all exist in Bacolod City.*NAB
