education hold raffle

The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education held its Christmas raffle recently in Bacolod City , a press release from the group said.

Coleen Alminaza won the grand prize of a Sony Ericsson cellphone, followed by Henly Pahilagao and Joyce Diaz who also won cellphones as second and third place prizes, respectively.

Winning consolation prizes of P300 worth of prepaid cellphone cards were Jill Daypal, Joevy Ann Tanaid, Rodolfo Sanchez, Jomari Abariza and Ma. Charo Razonable, the press release added.*

Film showing, lectures
set for Recycling Day

Film showings and lectures on climate change and other environmental issues will be held during the Recycling Day, Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Transport Terminal of SM in Bacolod City , a press release from organizers said.

The R-Day is also supported by the office of Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue and the Eath Day 2008 organizations, the press release said.

Just as in previous Waste Market Fairs, shoppers can trade their traditional and non-traditional waste items into cash at the Recycling Market Day. Traditional waste items, the press release said.

The event will also be a venue to those interested in joining the Earth Day 2008 celebration which will kick off and culminate at the mall, the press release added.*

S elders elect officers

The Council of Community Elders of the Iloilo City Police Office elected their officers for 2008, recently, a press release from the ICPO said.

Francisco Baquino of Arevalo District was elected president, with Antero Layog as vice president; Mercedes Alturino, secretary; Buenvenida Amantillo, assistant secretary; Leonor Mosquera, treasurer; Adelaida de la Cruz, assistant treasurer; Rogelio Castillo, auditor; Jose Carnaje, assistant auditor; Narciso Hijalda, business manager; Rosalia Oyong, assistant business manager; and Manuel Susbilla and Melanio Burla, press relation officers.

The CCE was organized in 2003 by then city director S/Supt. Policarpio Segubre and S/Insp. Lourdes Banzuelo, Police Community Relations officer, as an advisory body and consultative group on police matters, the press release said.

S/Supt. Wesley Barayuga, now the city director, encouraged the elders to bring up police related issues and concerns in their respective communities, the press release added.*
